When I am 20-23 weeks or even later, can I help paint the babies nursery or atleast be in the apartment. I will make sure the windows are open and such. And does anyone know of any good paint for nurserys, i was reading in parent magazine that benjamin moore makes some sort of natural paint? Thanks!

You really shouldn't chance it. Leaving the doors and windows open doesn't mean you are going to be getting sufficient ventilation. I can understand wanting to be involved, but if you can avoid actually being in the room when it is being painted or as it is drying, then it is the better thing to do.

well you should be allowed to paint, but i would ask your docter, just in case. everyone is different and will react differently to different things when pregnent. you just want to do whats best for the baby, right? so before starting anything, just check with the doctor
    good luck! xD

I wanted to be around when my son and brother's nursery was being painted. My mother and I were both pregnant so we kept the windows open. The nursery is upstairs and my mother stayed downstairs most of the time but I actually wanted to be a part of it so I wore a mask that blocks out the fumes from the paint.

We used regular velspar paint for our nursery. I didn't help paint it because the fumes bothered me too much, but I was fine being in the same house. All of the windows were kept open. I've seen ads for natural paints that are safe for pregnant women to use, but they are usually very expensive.

If you can get some one else to do it then that would be best. If not you can get paint with reduced fumes and that is child safe. We used this at the day care center I used to work at and were able to bring the babies into the room we painted that day. Good luck.. and have fun nesting!

There are a lot of great paints out there that have no odors - Benjamin Moore and Behr. I painted my sons nursery when I was 7 months prego. I left the windows open and wore a mask - even though the paint didn't have any fumes. I would say if it's something you want to do…then take the safety measures and do it. I can be nice though to be in the next room managing it with your feet up! Good luck!

yes it's fine for you to be in there, as long as you open windows to ventilate! If you begin feeling dizzy or anything, leave the house
